It is an important hub of the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway (G15), a national highway across the Yangtze River, and an important part of the Ganyu-Haojiang Expressway, the "longitudinal No. 1" of the main highway network in Jiangsu Province. It was the largest project in the history of bridge construction in China at that time and a super-large bridge project with the most complex construction conditions.
